Contributing to a better tomorrow

Hi-Way 9 aims to create a positive impact by getting involved with charities that are strengthening our communities. We proudly work with Canadian nonprofits by hosting fundraisers and providing free transportation to help them deliver essential resources to those in need.

Teamed by sports fans, Hi-Way 9 also supports local athletic programs and regularly hosts tournament fundraisers to bring our community together for a good cause.

Red to the core, green to the environment

For decades we’ve been doing our part to promote a healthy environment and high quality of life for the present and future:

1992 – Limited vehicle speed to 100km/hr
1996 – Invested in long combination vehicles to carry more freight in less loads
1998 – Implementation of no-idle rule
2007 – Became one of the first carriers to purchase EPA compliant vehicles

Today, we continue to implement, execute and elevate our sustainability practices:

  • Reduction of energy consumption across our operations
  • Utilization of cutting-edge technologies
  • Reduce, reuse and recycle policy
  • “More Freight, Less Trucks” – minimizing trucks on the road with long combination vehicles
  • State of the art facilities installed with eco-friendly features and technologies
  • Conservation of water resources across our operations
  • Creating route mileage efficiencies through GPS tracking
  • Participation in FleetSmart and NRGCan programs
  • SmartWay certified

Our equipment investments further help us to minimize our environmental impact:

  • Electric forklifts
  • Proper spec trucks (single axle trucks & trailers requiring less horsepower and rolling friction)
  • Aerodynamic trucking technologies and short wheelbases
  • Trailer skirts to achieve fuel efficiencies
  • Automated shift transmissions
  • Espar diesel heaters for engine starts requiring less energy
